With her religious exemption pending, the daily pressure increased to take the jab. When even as a remote worker she had to drive an hour each way for twice-weekly tests, it didn’t break her resolve. Again, the pressure increased. They started jamming her nose with the swab so hard during “tests” she had painful and severe nosebleeds.

They want to kill her dream of a career serving the Navy in the intelligence arena.

Late last week, Liberty Counsel received a desperate call from Katie,* an active-duty sailor working in intelligence for the U.S. Navy. When Joe Biden’s illegal shot orders came down last year, Katie was deployed on a naval ship stationed in Bahrain.

As a devoted Catholic who refuses to take any shot developed using aborted fetal cells, Katie dutifully submitted her religious exemption request while on board her ship.

Despite suffering a severely broken arm and wrist while deployed, nothing much changed for Katie. She submitted to regular COVID testing and went about her duties handling intelligence matters.

But everything changed when her ship returned to America a few months ago. Katie had received no word on the status of her religious exemption request. Instead, on her U.S. base, Katie was treated like a pariah.

The intense emotions and the gripping stories we hear daily breaks my heart. We are fighting every day to defend these brave warriors. Please help us help these heroes and others who are facing these abusive mandates.

Now stateside, Katie was forced to drive to the base, over an hour in each direction, to submit to twice-weekly COVID testing, even though as a remote employee she no longer had any in-person interaction with others.

Then the pressure increased, and it was no longer nasty words, cajoling or inconvenience Katie suffered. Now when Katie went to take the tests, the test swab was jabbed into her nose, seemingly as painfully and forcefully as possible. The pain was terrible, many times causing severe nosebleeds. The message was clear—take the jab or we will literally make you bleed.

After several bloody noses, Katie filed for a medical exemption from the testing. She was hoping and praying that her exemptions would finally be approved and the torture she was suffering at the hands of a shockingly brutal chain of command would end. Despite her suffering, Katie still wants to serve her country.

Last week, Katie received a phone call informing her she would have to report to the ship on March 18, 2022, for out-processing.

Despite her years of faithful and critically important Naval intelligence experience and service, Katie was kicked out of the Navy on March 18. When one of our staff called Katie, she broke down and cried. She had planned to make the Navy a career.

Her arm still in a cast, Katie was kicked out without so much as a thank you for her years of service.

I am increasingly disgusted by the unlawful, abusive behavior of Joe Biden’s Department of Defense (DOD).

I spoke to a group of Christian lawyers last week and shared with them some of the emails and requests for help we had received that morning. My voice quivered with emotion as I shared about one service member who developed severe hemorrhaging after the Moderna shot and had to undergo a total hysterectomy.

Another request for help was from the wife of a soldier who said the pressure from this abusive mandate caused her husband to check himself into a hospital twice for suicidal ideation.

Checking my rising emotion, I said, “This is our life every day.”

Every day, we receive reports of service members being physically and psychologically abused and coerced into abandoning their constitutionally and legally guaranteed right to religious liberty.

We are now helping over 900 service members—who have been bullied, manipulated and denied their religious freedom. That number is growing by more than 100 per week.

The Biden administration’s actions toward members of the military services are sickening and wrong.

That’s why Liberty Counsel is fighting so hard to defend the brave men and women of the U.S. military. If liberty is denied to the very people defending OUR liberty, how can we possibly expect this government to respect civilians’ rights to religious liberty?
