The author of the McDonald's blog writes, "When the true meaning of diversity is actualized, it brings people together, not apart. I believe this is a reality at McDonald's, and a key ingredient to our success as a company. While there is a considerable amount of conflict in society today, I think it is interesting to see the harmony that can exist in the corporate sector - at least from my vantage point. I would be curious to hear if any blog readers have observed the same in their own company(s). If so, please share."
The post comes shortly after the McDonald’s Corporation contributed thousands of dollars and joined the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, a radical homosexual activist organization that pushes the homosexual agenda, including calling for legalization of so-called “same-sex marriage.” In so doing, McDonald’s publicly sided in the ongoing culture war against the majority of Americans who hold traditional family values. For this reason, the American Family Association called for a boycott against McDonald’s, which Liberty Counsel has joined.
While referring to Christians and other people who hold traditional family values, McDonald’s spokesman Bill Whitman arrogantly stated, "Hatred has no place in our culture," suggesting that anyone supporting the historical definition of marriage is motivated by hate. The company has insulted everyone who supports traditional marriage.
Here is what you can do:
In response to the McDonald's blog, Matt Barber, Director of Cultural Affairs for Liberty Counsel, states:
“Unfortunately, McDonald's has abandoned the ‘true meaning of diversity,’ and, instead, has wholeheartedly adopted the euphemistic notion of ‘diversity’ pushed by radical homosexual activists. Regrettably, this postmodern model of ‘diversity’ only swings one way. This twisted brand of diversity actually amounts to anti-Christian bigotry. It says that diverse interpretations of diversity will absolutely not be tolerated and that traditional notions of sexual morality amount to ‘hate.’ In fact, McDonald’s spokesman Bill Whitman suggested that people who support traditional marriage and oppose so-called ‘same-sex marriage’ are motivated by ‘hate.’ This kind of hyperbolic rhetoric is right out of the left-wing PC playbook. I’d say little ‘harmony’ ‘exists’ in that.
“I’m always mystified when allegedly intelligent, bottom-line obsessed corporate types abandon the fiscally secure milieu of political neutrality and take sides, officially, in deeply polarizing, sociocultural controversies of the day.
“That’s exactly what your formerly family-friendly McDonald’s Corporation has recently done. By joining the innocuously tagged National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, a militant homosexual organization that pushes ‘gay marriage,’ you’ve chosen sides in the culture war. In an apparent effort to pierce the hyper-demanding good graces of the radical homosexual lobby, you clowns (pun intended) have thrown the vast majority of potential customers, worldwide, under the bus – and you’re facing an embarrassing, ever-growing boycott for doing so. This is a colossal corporate blunder, and I sincerely hope you’ll make the right choice, apologize for suggesting that people with traditional values are motivated by ‘hate,’ and disassociate McDonald’s from the NGLCC, returning to a position of neutrality in the culture war. It’s best for everyone involved. It’ll certainly be best for your bottom line.
“If McDonald’s is so proud of its association with NGLCC, then perhaps they’ll put signs outside every entrance indicating as much. If they don’t, then perhaps they’re not so proud after all.”
