Lynchburg, VA – Liberty Counsel and several celebrities are in full swing producing a film about religious liberty in high school. In the movie, high school students face opposition when organizing a Bible club and producing a faith-based drama. The feature film is called Uncommon and includes Erik Estrada (CHiP's), Ben Davies (Courageous), Irma P. Hall (Soul Food), and Grammy Award-winning Christian Musician Jason Crabb.
Estrada hopes the movie will challenge teenagers, explaining, “Uncommon is about educating students, teachers, and administrators about the fact that students do NOT lose their free speech and freedom of religion when they go to school.” In addition, the film contains hip-hop and Latino-style music compositions. Estrada concludes, “Uncommon will be a great tool to equip young people with the truth. It's a movie that will make you laugh, cry, and get up and dance!” A special theme song has been produced just for the movie.
Many people in Lynchburg and the surrounding area have taken the opportunity to get involved, and the producers are still recruiting and welcoming more extras to join the scenes. Uncommon is currently being filmed in various locations around Lynchburg. The movie calls for a lot of extras and so far has used over 200 extras in the filming. Those interested in being part of this film should contact the film through its website at www.UncommonFilm.com.
“Uncommon will inspire and encourage young people to make a positive impact in their schools and in the way they live. Through film, we hope to educate and motivate youth to let their lights shine,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. “Over half of the calls Liberty Counsel receives are from parents and students facing the secularists in the public school system. While the film will certainly entertain, it will educate and inspire young people to live life with conviction and purpose,” Staver said.
Liberty Counsel is an international nonprofit, litigation, education, and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life, and the family since 1989, by providing pro bono assistance and representation on these and related topics.
