Standing at the Center of the Battle for America's Soul

Dec 27, 2007

Throughout this incredible year, God granted numerous victories and the ministry established many strategic foundations that will bear much fruit.

While we faced the most liberal, antifamily Congress in American history, we defeated their agenda at every turn!

And while the pundits scoffed that the religious right was dead and hopelessly split, they have been proven wrong! The year ended with the media talking about the resurgence of evangelical conservatives.

The malaise and discouragement felt by many at the start of the year is changing into resolve and excitement. I can assure you that God is not finished with America!

Rejoicing in the Victories of 2007

The victories this year are too numerous to list. Our Special Year-End Report represents only the tip of the iceberg. Here are a few highlights:

- The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the law that bans partial birth abortion.
- We opened up scores of schools this year that were once shut to Good News Clubs, which brings the gospel to elementary children.
- We beat the ACLU in major Ten Commandments cases.
- We worked tirelessly to defend marriage in California. We will soon argue this case before the California Supreme Court.
- A huge marriage victory in Maryland stunned the same-sex agenda advocates.
- In Florida, we successfully fought to get the marriage amendment on the ballot for 2008, an amendment that Liberty Counsel drafted.
- We worked nights and weekends to defend one of the Nation's most important marriage battles between the states of Vermont and Virginia, involving Lisa Miller and her five-year-old daughter. This case is now before the Vermont and the Virginia Supreme Courts simultaneously.

Many nations consider the United States to be the moral compass of the world. They look to us for leadership and support. If we lose the marriage battle here, we will lose it on a worldwide scale. With your continued prayers and support, we will not let that happen.

Expect Even Greater Progress from the Momentum Achieved in 2007

Our Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign, "ignited a movement," according to ABC's Good Morning America. That movement resulted in more Christmas victories in 2007's Christmas campaign, particularly through our unique "Naughty and Nice" list of retailers.

Liberty Counsel's work with Liberty University School of Law is bearing much fruit as we train the next generation of Christian lawyers, judges, educators, policymakers and world leaders. We dedicated our one-of-a-kind Supreme Courtroom, which is the Nation's only replica of the central portion of the U.S. Supreme Court.

We took a group of Liberty students to the U.S. Supreme Court, where they had the opportunity to meet Chief Justice John Roberts. Our students and graduates are now working with state and federal judges, as well as with strategic national and state legislators.

The Liberty Center for Law and Policy is a partnership between Liberty Counsel and Liberty University School of Law. Through the Center in Washington, D.C., we work every day to open up opportunities for our students to secure to work with state and national leaders in all three branches of government.

We believe that the law is good, if it is used properly. The ACLU has used law for destructive purposes. We will continue to oppose the ACLU bullies, and we fully intend to continue winning the battle!

Please join us in grateful reflection on the victories of 2007 as we prepare for the opportunities of 2008. After reading our Special Year-End Report, please take an even stronger stand with Liberty Counsel in the New Year!

Liberty Counsel is a frugal, yet effective ministry. We resolve ninety-five percent of our cases without having to go to court. Of the five percent that end up in court, we win more than 92 percent!

We can win when we show up to fight. The only reason we are not able to confront every threat is the limitation on our resources. But with your support, we can show up, and we can win.

December is a critical time of the year for the mission of Liberty Counsel. This month will largely determine how much we can accomplish in the upcoming year. We ask that you prayerfully consider joining with other friends of Liberty Counsel by giving your best possible year-end gift.

With so much accomplished in 2007 and so much more to do in the coming year, we invite you to increase your financial partnership with Liberty Counsel.
