Justice Antonin Scalia delivered the opinion in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller. The majority opinion confirms that the Second Amendment protects "the individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation." Justices Breyer, Stevens, Souter and Ginsburg dissented.
