News Release
Lynchburg, VA - Liberty University and Child Evangelism Fellowship will partner in offering two new degrees in Children's Ministry. The undergraduate degree will be a Bachelor of Science in Religion with a specialization in Children's Ministry, beginning in the fall of 2006. Students will attend Child Evangelism Fellowship's Children's Ministries Institute (CMI) in Warrenton, Missouri, either in the fall or spring semester to receive the majority of their Children's Ministry classes. These credits will transfer to Liberty University to complete the remainder of their Bachelor's degree. Students may also choose to take all the classes over the course of two summers before transferring.
Liberty Theological Seminary will also offer a Master of Arts degree in Children's Ministry in conjunction with Child Evangelism Fellowship. Both degree programs will soon be available through Liberty University's Distance Learning Program.
This partnership teams up the largest evangelical university in the world with the largest children's ministry in the world. CEF was founded in 1937 and operates in all 50 states and in 156 foreign countries. In Sao Paulo, Brazil, the second largest city in the world, CEF curriculum has been required by the government in the public schools for the past 40 years. CEF's focus is on children ages 5 to 12. Eighty-five percent of all Christians made their decision to accept Christ during this period in their lives.
Mathew D. Staver commented on this new partnership: "Our future is being shaped today in the minds and hearts of our youth. Based on my work with children over the past several years, youth have become my passion. The partnership between the world's largest evangelical university and the world's largest Christian children's ministry is exciting. The lives of many children will be changed, and these youth will have a positive impact on our future."
