Governor Beshear’s Filing on Kim Davis “Irrelevant”

Dec 3, 2015

Cincinnati, OH – “Governor Steven Beshear’s filing on the Kim Davis case with the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday is irrelevant,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel.

Yesterday, Governor Beshear filed an appeal brief on the merits of the Kim Davis case in the federal appeals court in Cincinnati. “The bottom line is that the filing is inconsequential because Governor-elect Matt Bevin has already said that one of the first things he will do upon taking office is remove the personal names of county clerks from marriage licenses. This is exactly what our client, Kim Davis, has been requesting from the beginning. This promise will enable her and other clerks to do their jobs without compromising religious values and beliefs,” said Staver.

“Governor Steven Beshear and his anti-religious liberty ideology lost the election, and he has lost the battle against religious liberty and Kim Davis,” Staver said.
