Oct 13, 2004

Clearwater, FL – Focus on the Family settled its lawsuit against the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) and Clear Channel Outdoor, Tampa Bay Division (Clear Channel) over an earlier denial of an advertisement on bus shelters announcing Focus on the Family’s “Love Won Out” conferences in Florida. Focus on the Family is represented by attorney Mathew D. Staver, President and General Counsel of Liberty Counsel, a civil liberties education and legal defense organization based in Orlando.

Following mediation the parties have reached an amicable settlement. As a result, the Advertisement Transit Shelter Agreement between PSTA and Clear Channel has been amended, and Focus will be permitted to advertise the pro-family conference on the bus transit shelters.

Tom Minnery, Vice President of Policy for Focus on the Family, stated, “Focus on the Family is looking forward to conducting another ‘Love Won Out’ conference to educate the public about overcoming homosexuality in youth.”

Staver stated, “We are pleased that all parties were able to reach an amicable settlement. As a result of the settlement, the language in the Advertising Transit Shelter Agreement, which governs advertising on bus transit shelters, has been amended and Focus on the Family will be permitted to advertise its pro-family conference.”
