Dec 29, 2005
What an incredible month to end an incredible year!
As a result of our third "Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign," the ACLU was stymied. Their anti-Christmas agenda was thwarted. We won case after case, from public schools, to senior centers, from publicly displayed nativity scenes to Christmas trees, from employment to the retail market, the resurgence of Christmas, and its true meaning, dominated the media and became "water cooler" talk.
The Christmas season began with the "Holiday tree" in Boston. After Liberty Counsel intervened, the tree was correctly renamed a "Christmas tree." This set the stage for the renaming of the green, pointed, prickly things we decorate in December, in the U.S. Capitol, Newport News, VA (which was to be called "Tree of Celebration"), the states Massachusetts, Georgia, and the list goes on and on.
Nativity scenes formerly banned were displayed in Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach, FL following our lawsuit. This began a domino effect that reached Wellington, FL, and then spread to scores of towns throughout the country.
We resolved numerous cases in public schools, some of which involved children who were originally told they could not sing any religious songs or were required to learn secularized versions of Christian Christmas songs.
A movement to stop the secularization of Christmas was born this month. In stunning fashion, most national retailers reversed their efforts to secularize Christmas.
As 2005 comes to an end, it is good to pause and give thanks. Anita and I, along with the entire Liberty Counsel staff, want to thank you for your prayers and financial support this year. We look forward to the opportunities God will provide in 2006.
With so much accomplished in 2005 and so much more to do in the coming year, I invite you to extend your reach by partnering with Liberty Counsel. Your financial partnership with Liberty Counsel will leave a lasting legacy.
