Changing Minds and "Miracles," A Polish view on Christians and Jews

Nov 18, 2016

Harriet Moldau shares her story of Christians persecuting her Jewish family in Poland and how she now sees the "miracle" of Christians and Jews working together. Her perspective changed after attending a Bless Israel Summit co-sponsored by several organizations, including Liberty Counsel and its affiliated ministries, Christians in Defense of Israel and Covenant Journey.

Moldau's testimony explains for younger generations why there is so much animosity and fear from Jews towards Christians, and it gives hope for erasing it. Moldau says:

My parents were born in Poland, and...experienced antisemitism to a degree which is almost unimaginable.

If a Christian approached a Jew on the street, it would be to beat him up. Jews stepped off the sidewalk if they saw a Christian approaching. If Christians came into a synagogue, it would be to break up the furnishings or rip the beards from the Jewish men. Jews were confined to ghetto areas and were not permitted to own land, own houses, or belong to trade unions... on Christmas and Easter Sunday, Jews hid in their homes because the Christians would come out of their churches on those particular days, all fired up from what they had just heard, ready to beat and kill Jews...

This was the world my parents knew. When I came to the Bless Israel event, I was blown away by what I saw and experienced there. The auditorium was filled with Christians, all of whom were very respectful of the Jews in their midst, very accepting and even loving toward Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people, and raising money to support a Jewish organization in Israel. ...I am amazed by all this. ...Over the last 70 years, the attitude of Christians toward Jews has shifted to a degree that never would have been thought possible... Moldua's testimony is one of the many ways Liberty Counsel is building bridges with Israel and the Jewish people.

The purpose of the Bless Israel event was to bring together Jews and Christians in support of Israel. The event also raised money for the Koby Mandell Foundation, a non-profit organization that operates in Israel, to provide support and therapy for families who have been shattered by terrorists.
