On Monday, July 10, 2006, the First District Court of Appeal will hear oral argument regarding that state's marriage laws. The Court will consider whether to uphold a law that passed by a statewide voter initiative known as Proposition 22, declaring that marriage is a union of one man and one woman. In one of six consolidated cases to be heard on Monday, Liberty Counsel will argue in favor of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Liberty Counsel represents Randy Thomasson and the Campaign for California Families.
The California Channel will televise the arguments live via webcast. Liberty Counsel's argument is scheduled from 1:30 until 2:30 Pacific Time (4:30 Eastern Time).
Liberty Counsel has been involved in more than 40 cases across the nation defending marriage laws. This hearing comes on the heels of yesterday's major victories in New York and Georgia, where courts upheld the marriage laws of those states.
