Liberty Counsel will present oral arguments to the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals today, defending the ministry against the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) 11-year lawfare to destroy us.

The SPLC and their client, Janet Jenkins, claim that Liberty Counsel had knowledge of and participated in an international kidnapping scheme involving Lisa Miller and her biological daughter, Isabella, to deprive Jenkins of visitation rights with the child.

All four of the people involved in the crime said that Liberty Counsel had no knowledge of or participation in their scheme.

Over a decade of discovery, including more than 186,000 documents and 25 depositions, proved conclusively we had no knowledge of or participation in their scheme. 

And in March of last year, the U.S. District Court of Vermont ruled in favor of Liberty Counsel, striking a blow to every frivolous claim by the SPLC. 

But the SPLC won’t quit. Instead, they deliberately misstated evidence to the Court of Appeals in an effort to drain our resources. 

As the SPLC’s former spokesperson, Mark Potok, once publicly admitted, “I want to say plainly that our aim in life is to destroy these groups, to completely destroy them.” 

TODAY, Liberty Counsel is defending our innocence once again, this time before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, where we will present oral arguments before a three-judge panel.

The SPLC wants to destroy Liberty Counsel because for 37 years, we have been the tip of the spear defending religious liberty, the right to life, and the natural family.

We have won 42 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, and thousands of other cases in state supreme courts and the lower courts.

We’re effective — and that’s exactly why the SPLC is trying hard to either shut us down or bury us in lawfare. They seek to tie up our attorneys with frivolous lawfare, costing us the time and money that would normally go to fighting for Christian men, women, and children who need our help every day.
