A Christian lost his job for refusing to call a co-worker “they/them”
Last week, Liberty Counsel filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Luke Ash, a bi-vocational pastor who worked at a public library. The lawsuit followed a Louisiana government library's firing of Ash because he refused to violate his Christian convictions and lie to comply with a pronoun policy.
Pastor Ash wasn't fired for poor performance. He wasn't fired for misconduct. He was fired because he respectfully requested a religious accommodation instead of speaking words that are false.
If government employers can force Christians to choose between their faith and their livelihood, no believer's religious freedom — including your own — is safe.
That’s why Liberty Counsel filed suit last week against the East Baton Rouge Public Library.
Please make your most generous gift today to defend Pastor Luke. Your donation will be DOUBLED through a special Challenge Grant, giving Liberty Counsel the resources to fight this case all the way to victory.
Luke Ash is a faithful bi-vocational pastor, a devoted husband, and a loving father.
He treated everyone with kindness and respect. He simply could not, in good conscience, use pronouns that contradicted his deeply held biblical beliefs that God created us male and female.
Instead of honoring federal law by providing a reasonable religious accommodation, library officials terminated him.
Now Liberty Counsel has taken this fight to court.
This lawsuit seeks justice for Pastor Luke, including reinstatement, back pay, damages, and a ruling that government officials cannot compel Americans to speak messages that violate their faith.
The public library violated the Louisiana Protection of Religious Liberty law, the First Amendment, and Title VII.
But this lawsuit is about far more than one courageous pastor. This case will ripple across the country to impact ALL public libraries!
If government agencies succeed in forcing speech today, tomorrow it could be teachers, police officers, firefighters, military personnel, nurses, any public employee who holds biblical convictions . . . possibly you.
That is why this case matters to every Christian in America.
Liberty Counsel is prepared to fight this battle wherever it leads — but constitutional cases require tremendous legal resources, extensive preparation, expert testimony, and months, sometimes years, of litigation.
That is why your support today is so important.
Your gift will help:
Pastor Luke risked everything rather than deny his faith.
Now he needs faithful friends who will stand beside him.
Please give your most generous gift today. Whether you can give 35, 50, 100, 250, 500 dollars, or more, every dollar you give today will be DOUBLED through our Challenge Grant to defend Pastor Luke — and every American's God-given right to live and speak according to their faith.
If Christians remain silent when government punishes faith, these attacks will only grow stronger.
But when faithful Americans stand together, we can defend religious liberty — not only for Pastor Luke but also for generations to come.
Thank you for standing with Pastor Luke Ash, for defending religious freedom, and for ensuring that no American is ever forced to choose between a paycheck and faithfulness to God.
