Tommy Waltz is the founder of Gospel of God Ministries, an evangelistic ministry dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout North Carolina. Tommy had been working in the mission field since 2004, sharing the gospel in prisons, churches, and public forums like streets and public sidewalks.

But by 2008, God made clear to Tommy that the number of individuals in desperate need of the gospel message was far greater than he could address on his own. Tommy immediately began training other Christians with the necessary doctrinal and evangelistic tools to assist him in spreading the gospel.

The ministry now has dozens of trained evangelists who walk the streets throughout North Carolina spreading the gospel to a hurting and lost world.

The ministry is comprised of individuals passionate about their faith and determined to advance the gospel through adversity. Many are former addicts who now approach others on the battlefield of our streets teaching the broken and serving as a living witness to our Lord’s grace, healing, and salvation.

The impact has been ENORMOUS. The ministry has distributed approximately 400,000 gospel tracts and 600 Bibles, and over 12,900 individuals have professed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior as a direct result of this ministry.

But it hasn’t been easy. The ministry has navigated public ridicule and intimidation with godly character. The ministry’s evangelists have experienced insults and intimidation from citizens while walking the streets but treat everyone with dignity, respect, and grace. The ministry complies with all applicable laws and orders and seeks to maintain a positive relationship with law enforcement. 

Now the City of Raleigh’s police department is trying to rob this ministry of their First Amendment RIGHT to free speech and religious expression. Over the last three years, the city police department has relentlessly tried to shut down nearly every public preaching service Gospel of God Ministries has tried to put on — and that’s against the law.

Over 250 years ago, our nation’s founders preached both politics and religion from public squares and thoroughfares, and many lost their lives defending that unalienable God-given right so we could have a First Amendment protecting our rights even a quarter of a millennium later.
