NY AG Demands Pro-Life Donor Names

Pro-life groups in New York under attack by Letitia James

The NY attorney general is unlawfully demanding pro-life groups turn over their private donor lists. This is a blatant attempt to scare donors away from supporting pro-life causes ... and Liberty Counsel WILL NOT stand for it.

Democrats keep resorting to the same old bag of dirty tricks to silence any opposition to their leftist agenda. Now, New York Attorney General Letitia James is taking her turn at abusing her power to scare pro-lifers away from supporting important pro-life services, like CompassCare Pregnancy Services of New York.

Help us fight Letitia James’ attack on pro-life pregnancy centers by supporting our legal fund today and a special Challenge Grant will DOUBLE your impact.

When Barack Obama was president, he used the IRS to attack conservative groups and donors. He attacked various Tea Party and 912 Project Group leaders and donors, sicking the IRS and other federal agencies on the individuals to financially and professionally break his opposition.

The IRS was later forced to apologize to Obama’s victims, but not after many individuals, like True the Vote founder Catherine Engelbrecht, her family, and family businesses were nearly bankrupted.

In 2014, Brenden Eich, CEO of the tech company Mozilla, was forced to resign after his name was unlawfully leaked that he had made a 1,000-dollar donation in 2008 to support California Prop 8, which sought to ban same-sex marriage. The company he co-founded removed him over the revelation that he supported natural marriage. Eich went on to found the privacy-focused search engine “Brave.”

This is the reason why the New York AG is trying to get the pro-life donor names from crisis pregnancy centers — to intimidate and punish them.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is aiming to do to pro-life pregnancy center donors what the LGBTQ crowd did to Branden Eich.

CompassCare Pregnancy Services is one of New York’s premier pro-life pregnancy crisis centers. Founded in 1980 as “Citizens for Public Morality” in Rochester, NY, by members of a Bible study group, the organization later became known as “Crisis Pregnancy Services” before adopting its current name. Over the years, Compass Care has saved thousands upon thousands of unborn children.

Under federal law, donations to 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, like CompassCare (and Liberty Counsel), are private, and are NOT turned over to the government.

But NY AG Letitia James doesn’t care what federal law says any more than Barack Obama did. James is demanding that Compass Care and similar New York charities turn over their names, or else — and that’s illegal.

The entire intent of revealing leading conservative donor information is to create a “chilling effect,” wherein people are scared out of financially supporting pro-life and other conservative initiatives for fear of government attack and induced financial hardship.

Liberty Counsel is fighting for groups like Compass Care, but we need YOUR help! A special Challenge Grant will match every donation made today. That means your gift of 50, 100, 250, 1,000 dollars, or more will be DOUBLED! Please give generously!

“We are grateful that Liberty Counsel stands resolute and ready to ensure equal protection under the law for preborn babies,” says Jim Harden, CEO of CompassCare, “as well as the Constitutional Rights of the peaceful pro-life organizations like pregnancy centers dedicated to providing women with free ethical alternatives to abortion.”
