Congress Takes Action to Negate Parental Rights Victory
Last Friday, Liberty Counsel racked up our 40th win on cases we have briefed or argued before the U.S. Supreme Court.
The case was Mahmoud v. Taylor, and the High Court found that public schools MAY NOT rob parents of their right to free exercise of religion by forcing children to participate in LGBTQ indoctrination — or any other indoctrination that contradicts with their deeply held religious beliefs.
The Supreme Court found that schools MUST give parents the ability to opt their children out of lessons and activities that violate parental religious freedom rights.
This is a MASSIVE win for religious freedom.
But Congress is working to reverse this ruling!
That’s because the Equality Act specifically revokes religious freedom exemptions and will impose the LGBTQ agenda EVERYWHERE!
The Equality Act of 2025 seeks to place LGBTQ “rights” over every other constitutional right — including religious freedom rights! This could directly affect the victory in the Mahmoud decision, because Congress will have established the LGBTQ as a protected class, which will open the floodgates to forced indoctrination.
The Equality Act of 2025 specifically revokes Section 1107 of the Civil Rights Act and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. If this bill passes:
HR 15 and S 1503, The Equality Act of 2025, already has a shocking 214 cosponsors in the House and 47 in the Senate.
Cowed by LGBTQ activists and “queer”-supporting media empires, several Republicans have gone “soft” on the LGBTQ issue, falsely believing that protecting the LGBTQ agenda is more important than protecting religious freedom.
The Mahmoud decision should have been a warning to these lawmakers. But they are rushing ahead with the Equality Act anyway, desperate to please the “queer” supporters who label anyone who believes in God’s Word to be “haters.”
The Bible isn’t “hate speech.” It is a clear blueprint for a healthy and happy society that can withstand the tests of time. But if the Equality Act passes, every church in America, every Christian who speaks biblical truth, and every parent who doesn’t want their children indoctrinated with transgender “s x change” fantasies will be labeled a hatemonger.
Don't let LGBTQ radicals and weak-kneed Republicans undo the great victory the U.S. Supreme Court just announced in Mahmoud v. Taylor. Fax Congress NOW and demand they VOTE NO on HR 15 & S 1503!
Liberty Counsel has several cases similar to Mahmoud pending, including multiple cases defending Christian teachers whom the LGBTQ crowd are trying to get removed from public schools. And the critically important case that we are preparing to brief now is Chiles v. Salazar — the change counseling ban case that the Supreme Court will hear this coming fall. We have litigated these counseling bans since 2012. And there are many other cases where religious freedom is the target of the LGBTQ agenda.
Christians and people of faith are under attack, and we need YOUR DIRECT FINANCIAL HELP to win this war on faith!
