Soren Aldaco had a difficult childhood. A product of an abusive and neglectful home, Soren escaped into “chronic social media usage” at an early age. A quiet and practical girl, Soren preferred the ease of short hair and the comfort of pants with pockets to the gobs of makeup and fluffy eyelashes worn by female social media “influencers.”

Soren didn’t fit in, and for that, she was bullied incessantly.

“It’s like what we see happen in the movies,” she says. “If the rebellious tomboy can be conquered and transformed into a beautiful woman, she’s the hero of the story. If she sticks by what she likes and does what she deems practical, then she’s just the butt of the joke.”

At age 15, Soren had a breakdown and was hospitalized in a psychiatric clinic. In the hospital, she says, “a psychiatrist, I feel, coerced me into telling him I was trans,” she says. “If the scratchy dresses and insufferable objectification didn’t sit right with me, medication was the best course of action.”

Soren was fast-tracked down the road of “gender transitioning.” At 17, she was put on testosterone. By 19, she had a double mastectomy.

But that surgery went terribly wrong. Thankfully, emergency surgeons at a different hospital were able to correct most of the damage and save Soren’s life, but the experience was an eye opener.

Soren “began to realize that neither the testosterone nor the double mastectomy had helped her feel entirely comfortable in her body.” She began to question the legitimacy of the “gender affirming” care she had received, and soon realized she “had essentially traded mental anguish for physical anguish — and the mental anguish had not even subsided.”

After recovering from her injuries, Soren began a journey to stop fighting her body, instead seeking to heal her mind and spirit.

Christian counseling is a valuable tool in treating gender dysphoria and unwanted sexual attractions. It has literally saved lives, yet 87 cities and states across the nation still ban this lifesaving counsel because it conflicts with the LGBTQ’s refusal to allow anything that undermines their ideology.

Liberty Counsel has overturned 23 of those bans in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. But we have 87 more to strike down. We have lawsuits moving forward in several states.
