"I Would Be Dead Today" Without This...

Feb 2, 2024

A 13-year ordeal of sexual abuse left David deeply confused about his sexuality, love, and relationships, as well as suicidal thoughts.

David says he is alive today because of the life-changing Christian counseling he received. But the LGBTQ mafia has pressured more than 100 cities and states around the country to ban this special practice that saved David’s life ... and now that mob of deception is trying to strong-arm Congress into banning this lifesaving practice everywhere. Read on to learn more about David’s story, and what Liberty Counsel is doing to help. — Mat

For years, David says his life was “marked by addiction to pornography, same-sex porn, unhealthy relationships, confused identity and sexual abuse. I lived a duplicitous life with a lot of behind-closed-doors behavior. I seemed like a great kid. No one suspected I was in pain."

“My cousin molested me from age three to sixteen,” David says. “From the age of four, I was attracted to other boys. In high school, I was addicted to porn and had encounters with other boys, so I thought maybe I was gay.”

We are fighting for people like David to help set the captives free.

But when a close friend came “out of the closet,” David made a conscious decision “not to go down that path.”

“I knew it wasn’t what I wanted,” David says. David did not “act out in homosexual behavior.” Instead, he used gay pornography to mask the loneliness and brokenness in his spirit.

In 2008, David met the woman who would one day become his wife. “I was very attracted to her, but I didn't know how to reconcile that with the conflict raging within me,” he says.

But David says he took his “porn addiction into our marriage. By the second year of marriage, things got really rough. I knew I desperately needed help.”

A close friend of David’s had recently begun a Christian counseling program that was “helping him experience healing and understand his sexuality.” David decided to check it out for himself.

“That was the turning point for me,” David says. “Right away I started counseling sessions that helped me get out of pain and confusion and understand that just because I was molested at three didn’t mean I was gay."

David underwent a 21-week program directed at sexual brokenness and relational trauma. “I got freedom and healing from the roots that had been causing all my pain and sexual confusion, and it's been an acceleration ever since,” David says.

“Before I walked out of same-sex attraction, I only knew fake happiness,” he says. “Today my life is crazy good and full of joy. For the first time in my life, I have freedom and clarity, and things keep getting clearer every day. I’m finally genuinely connected to myself and others, I have confidence in relationships and in myself, and everything is so much clearer now.”

“There is no doubt in my mind that if I had not had access to the counseling, books, and programs I went through, it would have been soul-crushing,” David contends. “I could have come out and said, ‘I'm going to go live a homosexual lifestyle,’ but I didn’t want it. I didn’t know what to do, and I was in despair. I had so many thoughts of suicide and so much darkness surrounding my life because it was so lonely and depressing.

“If I had not had the opportunity to pursue the healing and wholeness I was longing for, I would be dead today,” David says.

Like so many others experiencing unwanted same-sex attraction after childhood sexual abuse, David’s life was literally saved by Christian change counseling. In fact, there are thousands of personal testimonies just like David’s proclaiming the lifesaving benefit of Christian change counseling.

But after extreme pressure from LGBTQ groups, this lifesaving practice has been banned in over 100 cities and states nationwide.

Liberty Counsel’s court cases have overturned 23 of these bans in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. However, 87 bans still exist around the country. Liberty Counsel will be filing lawsuits in three more states shortly. Our work in defeating these lawsuits isn’t simply setting the captives free — we are saving lives!

Now the LGBT mafia is trying to stop our success by leaning on Congress to enact a FEDERAL ban on Christian change counseling!

HR 15 — the so-called “Equality Act” — specifically denigrates Christian change counseling. With 212 House co-sponsors, this legislation only needs six Republicans to pass. Those six votes might not be hard to capture if you and I don’t act NOW.

YOU can help stop the bans on Christian counseling by faxing Congress today. Fax Congress NOW to demand they VOTE NO on the Equality Act.

Finally, please be in prayer for the millions of young men and women whose perspective on God’s design for sexuality has been shattered by childhood abuse. May God’s redemptive love break through to each of their souls.
