COVID-19 "tracking and surveillance" measures have little to do with saving lives and much more to do with control…and this poison is rapidly spreading across America.

Americans got a first glimpse of COVID-19-related mass surveillance schemes when Kansas City, MO, demanded churches and businesses record names and contact information of all attendees. Thankfully, after being put on notice by Liberty Counsel, the mayor abandoned his unconstitutional demands.

But sadly, we have now seen that other local, state and federal officials had plans of their own waiting in the wings.

In several states across the nation, including California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan and more, tyrannical governors are using COVID-19 as an excuse to hire hordes of people to contact, track and surveil Americans.

In just the past ten days, the number of domestic spies has more than doubled, up to 66,197 people. But that's not nearly enough trained spies for these radicals. Some "experts" want as many as 300,000 trained spies in their "army" -- watching you, your family and your friends -- all the time!

Nearly every state in America has a goal for how many of these "contact tracing" spies they want to hire.

• Alaska wants one spy for every 1,500 people.
• California wants 20,000 full-time spies.
• New York is well on their way to hiring 17,000.
• Texas wants 2,850 more added to their existing 1,150 spies.
• Illinois plans to hire more than 3,800 fulltime spies.

Paid informants have no place in our constitutional republic!

But wait, it gets worse...

Big Tech, which has ramped up its censorship, has gone so far as to ban articles and videos from scientists and doctors who dare to question COVID control measures. These companies long ago developed technology to track and surveil users.

Both Apple iPhone and Google Android are beta testing now, and some of their next updates will put COVID tracking on your phone whether you want it or not. The tech giants claim the user has the option to turn on the tracking, but we have already seen how Big Tech’s claims of privacy, free speech and liberty are often little more than empty words.

Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, these companies used your phone to monitor your location, your contacts, your texts and even your photos in order to manipulate your searching and shopping habits. Now, they are adding even more tracking capabilities so they can share all of this data with government officials and agencies that say they want to control this and future pandemics.

And then it gets terrifying...

Illinois Democratic Rep. Bobby Rush has introduced House Bill 6666 (you can't make this up), which seeks $100 billion for the purpose of testing, tracking and surveilling everyone. The bill actually specifies "everyone."

That is mass surveillance, and it is illegal and unconstitutional under the 4th Amendment. The increasingly dubious Dr. Fauci, who once tried to convince us that 1.7 million Americans would be dead of coronavirus by now, is (not surprisingly) wholeheartedly in favor of such tracking measures.

Meanwhile, Rep. Rush's Illinois Governor, J.B. Pritzker, wants America shut down for 12 to 18 months, or until a mass vaccine becomes available...which could be even longer. Debates about vaccines aside, liberties surrendered in a time of crisis are never fully returned. And any mass surveillance of Americans implemented now under the guise of controlling COVID-19 will almost certainly remain long after the coronavirus fades away.

Washington State's Gov. Jay Inslee is now threatening to drag COVID-positive patients out of their homes and forcing them to reside in government quarantine facilities – whether the patient has symptoms or not.

Clearly, COVID-19 control measures have little to do with saving lives and everything to do with control.

Our client's chilling reminder...

Christian Ionescu, lead pastor for our Illinois-based client Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church, has seen this movie before. Raised in communist-ruled Romania, Ionescu watched rulers completely erase freedom – first by small measures "for safety," then mass surveillance and "tell on your neighbor" Soviet-style initiatives.

These measures sought to attack churches first because Christians, having discovered the true freedom Christ offers, are less likely to abandon liberty. The communists in charge denied the necessity of churches and synagogues, and pressured people of faith to close their houses of worship, ultimately imprisoning pastors and burning down or blowing up church buildings.

We are not at that point yet, thank God, but the Governor of Illinois, along with the Mayor of Chicago, are now actively threatening to arrest Pastor Ionescu and his parishioners for exercising their First Amendment right to religious freedom.

Pastor Ionescu and the members of Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church understand, perhaps far better than others in America, just how dangerous so-called COVID control measures like mass surveillance have become.
