Church is not a video game, and its members are not mere digital pawns within that game to be counted, tracked and surveilled by government agencies intent upon control.

Last week, I told you the good news that, due in part to the work of Liberty Counsel and the activists like you, Kansas City, MO, dropped all plans to force churches to record names and contact information for all attendees.  But sadly, proposals and demands for tracking and surveilling of non-compliant Americans have gone nationwide!

Radical officials in cities and states across the nation are taking advantage of the COVID panic to propose and implement something that no American ever would have tolerated before – the tracking and mass surveillance of every citizen! While Kansas City, MO, had sought to receive manually recorded lists from businesses and churches; other cities and states are testing phone applications to automate mandatory surveillance.

China already used their COVID crisis to mandate a new app that all citizens must use, and which tells the user whether they can enter any building – even their own homes – based on the government’s determination. Non-compliance is met with arrest and we are already receiving reports that the Chinese government is using this app to track, surveil and arrest known Christians and dissidents.

Sound too crazy to happen in America? The State of Utah unveiled its mass surveillance app which records and reports everywhere you have been and everyone you have been near...including your friends, your family, your co-workers and every single person, even strangers, that you pass by in daily life.

Apple and Google recently announced collaboration on a phone app to be used for tracking and surveilling Americans, using the COVID crisis as the excuse, of course. These apps reportedly not only track everywhere you have been, but also everyone you have been near.

And just this morning, it was leaked that the latest software update for Apple iPhones has COVID tracking software already built in. If you want your iPhone to continue working well, you will have to accept the software update and everything that comes with it...including the COVID tracking -- which they claim will be voluntary (at least so they say).

But wait, there’s more.  H.R. 6666, (yes, that really is the bill number), the "TRACE Act," seeks $100 billion dollars to fund tracking and surveillance measures to be used against Americans…all in the name of COVID protection and defense.

As our client Pastor Christian Ionescu of Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church, who Liberty Counsel is representing in a federal lawsuit against Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s illegal church orders, wisely noted, "Church is not a video game." I would take that one step further and say that Americans are not pawns within that game to be tracked, surveilled and manipulated into compliance with overreaching, unconstitutional government edicts.

Pastor Ionescu and many others within his church personally experienced the traumatic results of letting the former Communist government in Romania erode liberty by first attacking the church and then tracking and controlling the citizens.

Pastor Ionescu knows exactly what it is like to lose liberty, then face increasingly drastic punishments for refusing to comply with tyrannical anti-Christian, anti-liberty government actions. In Communist Romania, pastors and church attendees alike were first threatened, then isolated, then tracked and then surveilled. Does the pattern sound familiar?

When the Romanian faithful still refused to comply, their churches were boarded up, then burned down or blown up and their members beaten, imprisoned, and even murdered.

America is standing on the precipice of destruction from within, just as Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev predicted in 1956.

No government official or agency has the authority to tell churches how or when to exist. Neither does the government have the authority to implement mass surveillance and control measures upon Americans...unless we give it to them.

I'm asking the concerned Christians of this nation to rise up with one voice and DEMAND our unalienable, God-given liberties – including freedom from mass surveillance, tracking and control measures, as well as our precious religious liberty.
