Starting a few years ago, the radical Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) declared war on Liberty Counsel and other Christian ministries.

It attacked faith groups like Liberty Counsel by falsely including our organizations on their list of so-called "hate groups," including an interactive "hate map" and a "hate watch" blog.

The liberal media and Silicon Valley elites have been willing collaborators in this SPLC attack. They regularly parrot SPLC "hate" claims and treat the radical group as a disinterested expert when it comes to identifying alleged “hate groups.”

As a result of such false labeling, Christian organizations have faced bullying, censorship, shadow banning and physical attacks. Here at Liberty Counsel, we regularly face death threats.

We now have security cameras around our office and home, and our staff goes through active shooter training.

+ + SPLC wants to take Liberty Counsel down

Having inflicted economic damage on Liberty Counsel and others through a number of fraudulent tactics, the SPLC then took its attacks on us to a new level through the courts.

In 2017, the SPLC added both Liberty Counsel and me, personally, to a massive ongoing lawsuit filed in Vermont. The SPLC's goal was clear — to weaken or even destroy Liberty Counsel by tying us up in court and gaining a judgment against us that could cripple this ministry.

I was dismissed from the case, but Liberty Counsel was not. That wasn't enough for the SPLC. They wanted to take this ministry down while also destroying my reputation as an attorney. So last year, they filed yet another lawsuit, naming both me and Liberty Counsel — this time in Virginia.

Of course, our legal team has been fighting back in both states. Just a few weeks ago, a federal judge in Virginia heard our arguments and threw out the SPLC’s lawsuit. But the one in Vermont is ongoing—and it is very expensive.

For years, Liberty Counsel has been sounding the alarm that the SPLC's "fake hate" campaign was really a twisted fundraising strategy that has resulted in an untold economic windfall for their organization.

We have documented the more than $100 million that the SPLC has stockpiled in offshore accounts. But the liberal media and Silicon Valley elites ignored our warnings and actually doubled-down in their support of the SPLC.

This year, press coverage gave the SPLC a black eye over their alleged financial corruption, sexual harassment and race discrimination at the highest levels. SPLC founder Morris Dees was fired and president Richard Cohen quickly resigned.

Yet despite all this, the SPLC's attacks against Christian groups continue. Their "hate group" crusade marches on. Even now, the SPLC's website includes a 3,200-word "backgrounder" on Liberty Counsel!
