The Abortion Facility Next Door

See below for an update on the Planned Parenthood facility literally wedged between an elementary and a middle school! -Mat

Location, location, location. That's a key to real estate success. And a formula Planned Parenthood has followed with deadly results.

Nearly 8 in 10 Planned Parenthood abortion facilities are located within walking distance of African American or Hispanic/Latino neighborhoods, reports Protecting Black Life, citing Census data.

In Washington, DC, Planned Parenthood sandwiched one of its abortion mills between an elementary and a middle school run by Two Rivers Public Charter School. Nearby are neighborhoods with more than 90 percent African American populations.

+ + School sues to silence pro-life witness...

Two Rivers Public Charter School is not troubled by a 26,000 square foot abortion facility right next to its elementary and middle schools. But when a pro-life advocate showed up on the public sidewalk outside its schools and the Planned Parenthood facility, Two Rivers sued to silence him.

Our client, Larry Cirignano, stood on the sidewalk to inform the public about the school children's unavoidable exposure to this abortion facility. But the charter school contends his peaceful, pro-life witness caused "emotional distress" and was a "nuisance" to the school.

Cirignano, however, has only stood on the sidewalk holding a sign. One message reads:

"If you teach kids it's OK for moms to kill babies, don't be surprised when children kill children. End the violence."

Cirignano has never trespassed on school property or otherwise broken any laws.

A District of Columbia Superior Court judge denied Liberty Counsel's motion to dismiss Two Rivers' lawsuit. We appealed. On Wednesday, Liberty Counsel filed our appeal brief in defense of Cirignano's constitutionally protected speech.

Frankly, it's shocking that a school entrusted with the care of young children would welcome -- and even fight for -- a Planned Parenthood facility located between its elementary and middle school.

Instead of looking at the pain and death that is perpetrated by Planned Parenthood right in the midst of its own school buildings, the school is attempting to silence a courageous advocate trying to protect children and women.

+ + Huge docket filled with vital cases

Liberty Counsel's defense of Larry Cirignano is just one of hundreds of far-reaching cases and issues we are now handling. Many impact every American. Here is a short review of key cases...

  • Sandra Merritt and Planned Parenthood - Our client, Sandra Merritt, wanted to defend innocent babies and took on one of the most powerful organizations in America - Planned Parenthood. Now she faces 15 trumped-up felony charges in California and an outrageous $16 million lawsuit by the abortion giant.
  • New York Sidewalk Counselors - Last July, a federal court ruled for our client, Scott Fitchett, Jr, against the New York Attorney General. Scott is a Pre-K teacher who shared the gospel outside a New York abortion mill. New York AG Eric Schneiderman, who later resigned in disgrace over sexual harassment, tried to crush him. We will go after the New York AG's office for damages because the suit was frivolous.
  • Pennsylvania Sidewalk Counselors - This summer we will argue at a federal Court of Appeals to overturn an abortion buffer zone law in Harrisburg, PA, that unlawfully protects a Planned Parenthood facility.
  • Counseling Bans - Since the Supreme Court adopted our arguments in two of our cases challenging counseling bans, we have been busy in California, Florida, Maryland and New Jersey. We will file in more states. It is only a matter of time before one of our cases will go back to the Supreme Court to overturn these dangerous laws that ban counseling for unwanted same-sex attraction, behavior and gender confusion.
