Dec 26, 2008
Throughout this year, we won numerous victories, established strategic foundations to further advance liberty, life and family in 2009, and forged new alliances to restore the values on which America was founded.
The victories this year are too numerous to list, but here are a few highlights from our Special Year-End Report, (which you can receive for free by calling Liberty Counsel at 800-671-1776.)
*Won three state-wide marriage amendments in Florida, California and Arizona. For the past 4-1/2 years we have defended marriage in California and in Florida, where we wrote the marriage amendment;
*Won a federal lawsuit for Child Evangelism Fellowship when a federal court ordered this historic district in Williamsburg, Virginia to provide equal access for Good News Clubs, and opened the doors for elementary school students to learn the Bible after school in scores of schools throughout the Nation;
* Defeated the ACLU in a major case in Alaska when a court upheld a statewide law providing property tax exemption to church parsonages for school teachers;
* Conducted numerous national briefings for pastors and community leaders, to encourage and inform them about their rights to preach on moral and political issues to confront the culture and shape the Nation’s future;
* Won a case in Wisconsin at the federal court of appeals, in which the court ruled a social worker violated the constitutional rights of two children when she strip-searched them at school without notifying the parents or fully informing the principal of her intentions;
*Conducted training programs for high school and college students to be future political and judicial leaders;
*Gained more victories through our Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign, including our unique "Naughty and Nice" list of retailers;
*Assisted attorneys preparing to argue cases before the U.S. Supreme Court by hosting practice arguments in Liberty University School of Law's one-of-a-kind Supreme Courtroom -- the the Nation's only replica of the central portion of the U.S. Supreme Court;
*Through the Liberty Center for Law and Policy in Washington, D.C., we provided opportunities for students to work with state and national leaders in all three branches of government.
Join us in grateful reflection on the victories of 2008 as we prepare for the opportunities of 2009. Please take an even stronger stand with Liberty Counsel in the New Year!
Liberty Counsel is a frugal, yet effective ministry. We resolve approximately ninety-five percent of our cases without having to go to court. Of the five percent that end up in court, we win more than 92 percent!
We can win when we show up to fight. The only reason we are not able to confront every threat is the limitation on our resources. But with your support, we can show up, and we can win.
