Watch "The ABCs of Protecting Marriage" and Help Defend Marriage

Oct 18, 2008

On Sunday, October 19, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. PT (8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET), you can watch a "Protect Marriage" satellite simulcast.

California residents can attend the rally at one of 170 church auditoriums that are downlinking the event. The program will rebroadcast on Sunday, November 2, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. PT (8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET).

The simulcast rally will feature:

  • Mat Staver, who argued the marriage cases before the California Supreme Court;
  • Pastor Ake Green from Sweden. He preached from Romans 1 about homosexuality and was arrested, tried three times, found guilty by the High Court of Sweden and sentenced to one month in prison;
  • David and Tonia Parker from Massachusetts. David went to his son's school and explained that he wanted to opt out his kindergartner when homosexuality was being discussed. He was arrested, taken to jail, went through two trials that he lost, and the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear the case;
  • Elaine Huguenin is the 25-year-old photographer who was fined $7,000 by the state of New Mexico for refusing to film a lesbian "celebration";
  • Tony Perkins from the Family Research Council in Washington, DC;
  • Chuck and Gina Norris will be appearing by a special video;
  • Chuck Limandri, attorney for the four firefighters that were forced to march in a Gay Pride Parade;
  • Bob Tyler, attorney for the two doctors who lost their case before the California Supreme Court when they refused to artificially inseminate an unmarried woman (lesbian);
  • Scott Hoffman, director of the Ocean Grove, New Jersey church camp grounds that lost tax exemption for refusing to perform a lesbian civil union;
  • Pastors Miles McPherson (The Rock), Shawn Mitchell (New Venture), Chris Clark (East Clairemont Baptist); and many others.

The rally is being simulcast from Skyline Church (Pastor Jim Garlow) San Diego, California.

On Monday, October 20, a special "Concert and Rally for God's Design" will be held from 7-9 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Orlando to support the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment (Amendment 2). This event is free and open to the public.

OTHER EVENTS:

Also on Sunday, October 19, there will be a prayer meeting from 4-5 p.m. in the Supreme Courtroom at Liberty University School of Law for Lisa Miller and her daughter, Isabella. Lisa's legal battle is an example of the consequences of giving legal recognition to same-sex relationships.
