Last Chance to Save Marriage

Oct 17, 2008

This Sunday, October 19 is "Marriage Sunday," when pastors across America will address marriage from a biblical perspective. A special "Concert and Rally for God's Design" will be held from 7-9 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Orlando to support the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment (Amendment 2). This event is free and open to the public.

Also on Sunday, October 19, there will be a prayer meeting from 4-5 p.m. in the Supreme Courtroom at Liberty University School of Law for Lisa Miller and her daughter, Isabella. Lisa's legal battle is an example of the consequences of giving legal recognition to same-sex relationships. Activist judges in Vermont have declared that a legal stranger is a second "mommy" to Lisa's biological child. On October 27, a Vermont judge will decide whether to order a six-year-old little girl taken from the loving arms of the only mommy she has ever known - her biological mother, Lisa.

Monday, October 20 has been declared a day of prayer and fasting for the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment (Amendment 2), an amendment to protect marriage as the union of one man and one woman. This Amendment will prevent activist judges from redefining marriage, as they have done in California, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Even if you are not a Florida resident, please join us in this important effort. Fast and pray not only for Florida, but for similar amendments in Arizona and California. Churches in California are in the midst of a 40 day fast for that state's amendment. Recent pollings show that results have been miraculous. August polling in California showed only 40% supporting and 54% opposing the amendment, but recent polls indicate that 47% support and 42% oppose the amendment. Prayer, fasting and action makes a difference.
