Liberty Counsel Protests Lack of Enforcement of Federal Obscenity Laws

Today, pro-decency and pro-family organizations held a prayer breakfast, conference, and a demonstration in Washington, D.C. to draw attention to the lack of current enforcement of obscenity laws by the United States Department of Justice and the FBI.

Sarah Seitz was one of the speakers at the conference. She is the Legal Director of the Liberty Center for Law & Policy, a partnership between Liberty Counsel and Liberty University School of Law.

Seitz spoke about Liberty Counsel's defense of librarian Brenda Biesterfeld, who was fired from a library for reporting a patron viewing child pornography. She also discussed the involvement of students at Liberty University School of Law with "Blue Ridge Thunder," an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) taskforce at the Bedford County, Virginia, Sheriff's Office.

United States Supreme Court Allows Law Against Child Pornography To Stand

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a federal statute that makes it illegal to knowingly attempt to distribute or obtain child pornography. You can read the opinion online. The ruling was 7-2 with Justices Ginsburg and Souter dissenting.
