Liberty Counsel Defends Virginia Marriage Amendment

Today, Liberty Counsel filed two briefs at the Fourth Circuit in Richmond in response to Bostic v. Rainey. One was submitted on behalf of WallBuilders, LLC, and deals with the historical, legal, and philosophical reasons marriage is, and always has been, defined as the union of one man and one woman.

The other brief, filed on behalf of the American College of Pediatricians and Liberty Counsel, deals with the legal Natural Marriagearguments supporting the constitutionality of defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and the inherent harms associated with homosexual behavior.

The overwhelming majority of Virginia voters affirmed natural marriage in the State Constitution. This is the first southern state in which a voter-approved, constitutional amendment was overturned by a single, secular judge who imposed her own viewpoints, rather than upholding the rule of law.
